Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

To enhance safety and ensure compliance in all aspects of PDO’s lifting operations at site.

The Lifting Competency Asssessor will provide technical rigging, lifting and mechanical handling support to PDO operations in all concessions. Lifting Competency Asssessor  will offer both rigging and lifting planning and will provide support in lifting, hauling, installation and rigging issues that arise during all aspects of PDO Operations. In addition, the Lifting Competency Asssessor  will provide rigging review services including review the contractors or subcontractors developed lifting plans and assess lifting and rigging procedures. The Lifting Competency Asssessor  will support the Function, Project, Well Engineering, Logistic and MSE team.

Education & Experience

•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.  
•    A minimum of 4 years of hands-on-experience on lift planning, inspection and certification, troubleshooting, and auditing of different types of lifting equipment.
•    A minimum of 2 years' experience in Rig/Hoist operation work related
•    NSL or LEEA Certification for Lifting Inspection will be an advantage.
•    ABA or IPAF qualification will be an advantage.
•    Good understanding of planning lifting operations 
•    Rigging/lifting/crane supervisor certification will be an advantage
•    Demonstrable good knowledge in competency assessment process. 
•    Demonstrable technical experience in Lifting and Hoisting
•    Good understanding of risk assessment, incident investigation, manufacturing, and maintenance process.
•    Demonstrated experience with audit procedures and report writing.
•    Strong team player and self-motivated with good interpersonal and supervisory skills.
•    Possess the ability to interact with all levels of operational personnel.
•    Must have good computer skills and skilled in the use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
•    Good communication and interpersonal skills.
 

Main Responsibilities

•    Implement PDO lifting Policies, Procedure and specification 
•    Provision of expert advice on all lifting and rigging activities, ensuring compliance with PDO requirement, local legislation & International Standards. 
•    Promote and encourage team HSE performance through participation in Toolbox Talk, Audit and Risk Assessment.
•    Support the development of a suitable and competent workforce capable of execution rigging and lifting operation, including training and assessment of personnel.
•    Site Assurance check on lifting equipment
•    Provision expert advice during the preparation of operational procedures, lift planning and risk assessments.
•    Support & participate in audit processes of applicable Lifting, Rigging and Material Handling performance standards and procedures.
•    Review Personal Competencies of personnel involved with lifting operations to ensure that Rigging and Lifting Competency Standards are met
•    Participate in lifting related incident investigations as required. 
•    Observe Lifting, Rigging and Material Handling operations and provide advice accordingly to enhance/maintain the Company’s HES policies and procedures.
•    Conduct frequent inspections/audit to PDO and Contractors Lifting, Rigging and Material Handling operations to ascertain their safe work practices and their compliance to PDO procedures and specifications. 
•    Ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with PDO HSE Standards
