About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

Provide expert advice on all matters related to Wells Process Safety which includes well control (procedures, equipment) and well design integrity. To provide assurance on well control readiness and well design integrity and act as deputy for the Wells Assurance Manager.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor or Master of Engineering/Science degree in an Engineering or Geosciences discipline or equivalent.
  • Shell Round 2 Certificate is preferable.  
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Well Engineering with a minimum of 4 years as Wells Site Supervisor and / or Field HSE Advisor and another 3 years as office-based Senior Well Operations or HSE Advisor.

Main Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule FAST activities to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and continuity across rotational schedules.
  • Act as custodian for SP-2311, provide assurance-related input to CMS documents, and develop plans, SOPs, TORs, and templates for audits.
  • Develop and implement audit plans, coach auditees on follow-up actions, and analyze assurance findings to create improvement strategies.
  • Drive dissemination of assurance learnings using tools like UWD KM base, e-learning, coaching, training courses, and presentations to foster organizational learning.
  • Develop KPIs for the FAST team, track performance, and make it visible through dashboards and reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Drive the team to adopt Lean behaviors in compliance with PDO’s Lean deployment model to sustain continuous performance improvement.
  • Assist contract holders with technical and HSE matters during pre-tender and evaluation phases, technical design reviews for rigs and hoists, and operational readiness assurance.
  • Support self-assurance initiatives and contribute to UWD’s learning culture by collating and sharing learnings from audits and IRCs.
  • Motivate, coach, and mentor colleagues, ensuring alignment with PDO values (Honesty, Integrity, Respect for People) and behaviors (Engagement, Respect, Collaboration, Performance).
