Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

Responsible for all Rigs and Hoists systems maintenance, He assists the In-Sourcing WE Manager in providing technical support to the field operations. The position requires working closely with Equipment OEM, Workshops and Repair Facilities inside and outside Oman, other groups of people within PDO, eg: Well Engineering, IT, Procurement and Training departments.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical or Electrical or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Rig / Hoist equipment with a minimum of 5 years as Preventive Maintenance Supervisor (PMS).

Main Responsibilities

  • Manages the planning & assignments of the roving personnel based on the case-by-case requirements of the Manages the planning & assignments of the roving personnel based on the case-by-case requirements of the field operations and maintenance projects. Provides ahead of each trip a "road map / mini assignment details for the roving person such a way that all expectations are set between all. Obtains an end of activity report.
  • Promote the use of Deficiency Reports, performs a detailed investigation on relevant equipment/material deficiencies and associated problems. Co-ordinate the issue with the Rig Manager and Supervisors.
  • Follow the maintenance reports and review them regularly, highlights major issues to the attention of the Insourcing WE Manager and Operation Team Leads.
  • Mange the distribution system of Alerts, Guidelines. Builds / secures records, PM status, etc. Ensures that publishable OEM material is added in our systems. Owns the Maintenance Procedures and Standard update process. Ensures that all such material is posted in systems for access by the field using the PDO Network.
  • Coordinate the hardware audit process covering all PDO owned rigs and hoists. Assembles / or makes proposals for the assembly of internal and external resources to build such teams. Participates in the site audit process were deemed necessary. Maintains posting of the hardware audit reports quarterly updates and follows up on the close out of the hardware audit action items.
  • Participates in QHSE audits on rigs and visits the operating units with the objective of improving communication between the units and maintenance team, report findings, focusing on potential units' improvement, ideas that can be exchanged between units, optimization of processes and QHSE improvements Provides support for the maintenance training program by reviewing the content of the existing technical has context menu
  • Provides support for the maintenance training program by reviewing the content of the existing technical courses, evaluating relevance, and selecting new courses upon request from training. Identifies and highlights additional perceived needs to training.
  • Maintain inventory of spare assets in the country, and inventory of equipment stored in the yards, and share it with Rig Managers, Field Superintendent and Operations Team Lead.
  • Assists the Procurement Engineer in determining proper levels of stock, and recommend an optimum stock level based on current deliveries and average use.
  • The Maintenance Team Lead shall use his expertise and qualification to recommend equipment specification for purchase, transfer, retirement, spare asset and annual capital purchase.
  • Observes proper rig operating procedures, noting unsafe practices.
  • Plays an active part in QHSE meetings, tool box meetings, the LEAN program and all other company safety management systems.
  • Familiar with Management of Change Requirement and ensure it is followed
  • Responsible for the practical training of the new people in his team with respect to HSE
  • Ensures that all company disseminated information applicable to his staff is communicated to them in TBTs,
  • Oversee the major troubleshooting effort on the rig and hoist side when it comes to shut down situations.
  • Follow up on all major equipment overhauls in the field or in OEM workshops.
  • Provide appropriate support to Rigs and Hoists to ensure that all kinds of equipment calibration and testing of safety equipment by third parties are carried out as per specified schedules.
