About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.
 

Purpose of the Job

Support the implementation of integrated risk-based assurance process (IRAP) across the company for establishing a visible linkage between risk & assurance processes through active planning and engagement with/ and support to business process owners. Ensure smooth operations, regular reporting and continuous improvement of the corporate assurance process. In addition, support (as needed) the other governance processes managed by GRA team such as risk management, control incidents, delegation of authorities, financial evaluation of bidders, financial controls framework, etc.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, and/or engineering with related certifications/ trainings in audit & assurance, risk management, internal controls, and compliance.
  • Minimum 7 years of overall work experience in business assurance, risk, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated experience of effective communication, influencing through extensive collaboration and engagements with senior management/ business process owners.

Main Responsibilities

  • Engage with functional/ business process owners (department heads) for the development of their respective ‘risk-based annual assurance plans’. Direct and provide necessary guidance where current assurance programs are not sufficiently mature.
  • Compile the ‘corporate annual assurance plan’ comprising of L3, L2 & L1 audits & assurances; and incorporating inputs received from all PDO directorates & functions.   
  • Improve LT line-of-sight for the IRAP programme by influencing regular reporting (via respective assurance focal points) against directorates’ annual assurance plan (plan vs. actual progress)
  • Collaborate with corporate risk team, directorate risk focal points and respective assurance focal points to ensure assurance outcomes are presented/ integrated into directorate risk reviews.
  • Undertake gap assessments in relation to current assurance practices and engage/ influence respective business areas for bridging the identified gaps (actions closure).
  • Prepare executive reports/ management summaries on the IRAP programme (as required)
  • Support the delivery of IRAP awareness programmes and related trainings to improve ‘risk-based assurance’ culture throughout PDO.
  • Support the deployment of an end- to-end assurance tool to host IRAP life-cycle; post implementation, act as the tool custodian, esnsuring its effective roll-out/ usage across the line.
  • Perform any other tasks as directed by the Head of Governance, Risk and Assurance.
