Job Description

Temporary Position (6 months period) 
The scope of work for Senior Operations Geologist will include, but not be limited to: 

·   Understand requirements and results of vertical well modelling exercise to select appropriate horizontal well placement tools.
·   Attend the well pick sessions and able to identify geohazards.
·   Able to understand the concepts of well engineering discipline and coordinate with well engineering effectively  
·   Liaise with directional drillers for identifying suitable well placement tools, geo-steering and TD criteria.
·   Deliver Pre-spud meeting with Well Engineer, DSV, wellsite geologist to emphasize objectives and critical aspects of the well.
·   Attend daily rig morning calls and address Rig requirements and report back to the integrated team (well custodian).
·   Monitor drilling progress based on available data from the wellsite.
·   Skill in Omani lithostratigraphy
·   Interpret and drilled lithology based on cutting descriptions, mud gas, MWD GR and drilling logs.
·   Identify drilled formation based on cutting descriptions, mud gas. MWD GR and drilling logs.
·   Interpret expected formation fluid fill based on mud gas log analysis.
    Perform well log correlation with appropriate offset wells to predict the upcoming depth.
·   Update depth prognosis and project critical decision points based on drilling results and performance.
·   Establish and conduct well sections TD criteria in vertical wells.
·   Establish and conduct landing point criteria for in the BUS of horizontal wells.
·   Establish instructions to the directional driller for achieving the planned landing point in liaison with Well Engineer and DSV.
·   Liaise with well placement engineers to implement geo-steering guidelines and criteria.
·   Follow the well placement reports and update the geo-steering criteria (if required).
·   Present weekly drilling progress and forecast, Depth-Time charts and cost.
·   Deliver/Liaise with technical teams and management for MOC document and its signatory authorization process.
·   Deliver and liaise with subsurface and well engineering teams for EOWR that states results and implications of the well. ·   Deliver and liaise with subsurface and well engineering teams for AAR (if required).
·   Generate a final data package that consists of Final well logs, trajectory, well tops, data (core, time-depth, pressures and sampling) ·   Well Data management and initiate the EOWR 
·   Should be clear understanding of well cost implications
·   Initiate well proposal and translate it into a drilling execution program  
·   Initiate and contribute to AAR
·   Able to work in any time of the day (in-call out of the working hours)
·   Knowledgeable with other subsurface disciplines 

Skills Required

·   Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or related subject from a reputable institution.
·   At least 15 years of experience in oil company or equivalent
·   At least 8 years relevant experience in Operation Geologist and wider Petroleum Engineering and drilling roles with an Operating Company (Experience in Oman region preferred)
·   Skills in characterization of Oman’s lithostratigraphy
·   Skills in functioning subsurface applications including but not limited to Petrel.
·   Demonstrable record of experience with delivering different well types and designs particularly geo-steered horizontal wells.
·   Demonstrable expertise in field development planning, having been responsible and accountable for delivering planned wells and multi-disciplinary subsurface teams.
·   High level of hands-on technical expertise in well operations, particularly those listed in this scope of work.
·   Experience with E&P data management systems, familiar with database systems and data retrieval and data management systems as used in E&P.
·   Experience with authoring of corporate documentation such as Policies and Work Procedures.
·   A strong track record of responsibility and decision making.
·   Excellent verbal and written communication skills, fluency in English language.
·   Skills in functioning common computer applications including but not limited to MS office, Adobe Acrobat
