Job purpose

Manage & provide strong technical support on Data Management at Upstream Operated Assets - Planning & Performance, under TL Data Management scope’s, acting as single point of accountability, and expert owner of Data Management standards, by:(1) Leading the maintenance of existing subsurface Databases, including the maintenance of wells & reservoir data in share drives, (2) Interface and lead the interactions with specialized vendors to receive, QC, store and publish the relevant Well, Log and Reservoir data, 

 

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Manage and execute end-to-end process for the maintenance of all existing Subsurface Databases
  • Manage and execute end-to-end process for well and reservoir data in share drives
  • Work with Vendors to receive, QC, store and publish the relevant Well, Log and Reservoir data
  • Work with Ministries to maintain the relevant databases
  • Ensure and participate in the development and implementation of the upstream technical data operating model/data frameworks (i.e. governance, quality, etc.)/guidelines, roadmaps / data standards / best practices while maintaining the highest standards of data quality, accessibility, extraction and connectivity to the upstream Petro technical applications.
  • Participate in the development of the upstream technical data strategy, governance initiatives/activities (policies, procedures, structures, roles and responsibilities) to serve the upstream data users across OQEP and to maximize the upstream technical data full potential.

 

Specific:

 

OpenWorks Database:

 

  • Create New Wells
  • Update the Headers
  • Send Headers to Logging Contractors
  • Follow up until the well is completed

Well Data Receiving from Contractors:

 

  • Receive Logging Data for each Drilled Section
  • Follow up for each section until well TD
  • Copy Final data to Well Folders
  • Update the E-log Database (Internal Web Application)

Well Folders (Share Drive):

 

  • Create New Wells
  • Create the Folder Structure for new wells
  • Continuously Maintain the Files for the lifetime of the project

 

OpenWells (EDM) Database:

 

  • Ensure the Well Headers, GL Elevation and Air Gap matches with OpenWorks database
  • Export the Well Summary Report

 

 

Documentum D2

 

  • Maintain the existing Workflows
  • Create New Workflows when needed

WebGIS:

 

  • Add proposed wells
  • Add Drilled wells

OGDR Database (Oman Government):

 

  • Reformat the data in the correct format
  • Upload Wellbores

AMS Database (Ministry of Energy):

 

  • Upload Daily Drilling Reports for each Rig
  • Upload Quarterly WP&B report
  • Upload Annual 5-year Plan
  • Request permits for water supply and disposal wells

ALL live data

  • Maintain existing work flows and create any new of need

Production data

  • QC all daily production data

ALL data storage

  • Maintain and monitor data back status and health. Do periodic checks on the different backup methods implemented in the company

 

Key interactions

Internal: Upstream

External: Specialized Contractors, Technical committees, Ministries

Notable Working Conditions. Office environment, Moderate to intensive computer screen use.

Education requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science/information technology/ or engineering preferably in subsurface discipline, postgraduate degree is preferable.

 

Language requirements 

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required)  Arabic - Native (desirable)

Background and experience

Competencies and skills

  • 12+ years of experience in information technology and relevant business disciplines including at least 5 years in data management discipline.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in oil & gas industry, understanding of industry best practice for data management discipline, and understanding of key business process in the upstream oil and gas industry.
  • Experience in Subsurface Databases like OpenWorks, iPoint
  • Experience in EDM Drilling Databases (OpenWells, Compass)
  • Experience in Document management applications like Documentum D2
  • Experience in WebGIS application
  • Experience in data loading procedures in OGDR Repository (Oman Gov)
