Job purpose

 

To provide robust Production Engineering duties to the Subsurface development in areas of field development with Operated Assets - Subsurface, under TL WRM by planning production, well design & completion, applying production engineering practices to well & reservoir management, well design and completion, IPM; for the production in significant oil / gas deposits.

 

 

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

  Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Deployed in the field supporting one of development fields in inshore Oman, working within a cross-disciplinary team of subsurface, wells and production operations peers.

The PE works collaboratively to safely manage field production and injection in areas such as performance monitoring and surveillance, system optimization, and well intervention evaluation and coordination. This role is a key link between the field operations team and the team at HQ.

  • Provide robust technical engineering expertise, support, and create innovative solution related with the execution of production engineering process and ensure teams apply common engineering principles and concepts to their own teams' responsibilities. May handle a large scope of projects simultaneously, and in addition to performing tasks, provides guidance to junior engineers, trainees, and teams.
  • Deliver day-to-day field management activities including well and system monitoring, surveillance and well testing planning, monitoring and validation.
  • Use system modeling and optimization to identify and progress short- and medium-term production enhancement opportunities. Contribute to well and reservoir reviews.
  • Understand daily well performance. Issue short-term production and document production shortfalls in OPEP management system. Participate in Root cause failure analysis techniques and embed the finding within the team.
  • Coordinate well intervention activities from planning to execution and post job evaluation.
  • Identify and manage well risks. Understand and document the associated surveillance, barriers and mitigation measures.
  • Provide clear communication and operational instructions to the field team for site execution.
  • Integrate with the projects, wells and subsurface teams for field development.

Education requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent

Language requirements

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) - Arabic - Native (desirable)

Background and experience

Competencies and skills

 

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Track record of deadline delivery and result oriented
  • Relevant software experience, Prosper, Gap,Pipesim, Foresite, is preferred
  • Demonstrated strong experience in the following fields:
    • Experience in well & reservoir management, production operations and completion procedures.
    • Experience in working with multi- disciplinary team
    • Experience in using PETEX IPM suite of tools is an advantage
    • Experience in water shut off in open hole horizontal is a plus
