Purpose of the Job

The Senior ICV Energy Transition Advisor is pivotal in addressing the challenges and opportunities within the energy sector, focusing on the transition to sustainable energy solutions. This role involves integrating In-Country Value (ICV) initiatives with the PDO refresh strategy to identify and capitalize on new ICV opportunities.
Key responsibilities include acting as a central figure within the ICV team, facilitating collaboration with government entities, ministries, and other oil and gas operators in the energy sector. The advisor will develop and implement a clear renewable energy strategy and roadmap, conduct market assessments to determine demand requirements, and spearhead critical innovative projects across the company.
Additionally, it requires a holistic perspective in incubating, accelerating, and marketing innovative solutions that enhance cost efficiency and carbon competitiveness within the industry. The advisor will play a crucial role in managing the AFAQ program, designed to provide exposure to the operations in the Oil, Gas, and Energy sectors and beyond. The program focuses on startups, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and established companies operating within innovation, engineering, digitalization, and the realms of the fourth industrial revolution. 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related fields. 
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in innovation and incubation management, startups, R&D, energy, renewable and business development.
  • Proven experience on innovation, research and development, incubation and acceleration programs and business development.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and programs including budget management, risk assessment, preferably with exposure to energy & renewable, startups and SMEs in the technology sector as well as other initiatives in ICV.

Main Responsibilities

Support Energy Projects: 

  • Play key role on future energy projects such as feasibility studies and preliminary engineering work for renewable natural gas, and other clean energy projects, integration of low-carbon fuels at industrial facilities to achieve decarbonization targets.
  • Work closely with other ET stakeholders to ensure collaboration and aggregation of demand as per PDO C&P procedures to ensure best value for PDO and Oman.
  • Through data analysis, conduct consultations with decision makers and Government Ministry officials throughout to ensure adequate ICV inputs are provided to all relevant stakeholders with the implementation plan.
  • Working with technology vendors and other engineering design teams to identify ICV opportunities and evaluate implementation plan.
  • Identify and assess the energy system (production, transmission and usage) using various primary energy sources (fossil fuel and non-fossil fuel) to identify ICV opportunities. 
  • Ability to support in identifying renewable energy resource, associated local availability, listed types of different renewable energy technologies which can be turned into local opportunity through SMEs & local companies.
  • Identify and assess local R&D and innovation scopes within contracting and procurement categories and contract which can be handled by startups and SMEs. 
  • Support programs related to energy and sustainability, ensuring it aligns with the strategic objectives of promoting in-country value and sustainability in the energy sector.
  • Carry out frequently PIR on effectiveness of the AFAQ program and its impact on the ICV objectives, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet evolving industry demands.
  • Lead initiatives such as “innovation Hub” to increase local content in energy projects, including procurement practices, workforce development, and supply chain management.

Leadership:

  • Build and maintain relationships with main stakeholders in energy sector, startups, SMEs, established companies, and other relevant stakeholders to foster an ecosystem of innovation and collaboration.
  • Leading strong leadership team with an ability to inspire, influence, and collaborate across teams and with external partners.
  • Capacity to adapt strategies in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles.

Business Support:

  • Develop the framework of intellectual property management for ICV innovative opportunities with proof of concept (POC) and managing the execution of the framework alignment with key stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Facilitate the introduction and adoption of groundbreaking solutions within the market, ensuring they contribute to cost reduction, carbon competitiveness and development of local talents. 
  • Drive initiatives that not only support economic growth but also enhance ICV and environmental sustainability, positioning the company as a leader in responsible energy production.
  • Identify and promote industry best practices in energy transition, innovation, and ICV, ensuring that the organization remains at the forefront of sustainable energy practices in ICV.
  • Ensure all activities and projects adhere to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, maintaining the highest levels of integrity and accountability.
