Job Description

1.Define, deliver, and ensure high quality integrated geoscience evaluations and recommendations for exploration opportunities to support CCED’s growth in Oman. 2.Work within a multidisciplinary team of geologists, petrophysicists, geophysicists, technologists, and engineers to identify and evaluate exploration potential, leads, prospects, and execute a sustainable opportunity funnel for blocks 3 & 4. Critical role needs • The pragmatic leveraging of working knowledge and application of all technical principles, theories, and concepts to evaluate exploration potential and identify and mature prospects to drill-ready status. • The ability to work closely with Geologic Ops and Drilling groups during planning, Well Proposal documentation and drilling of proposed wells. • Experienced in interpretation and integration of new data whilst drilling for support of well operations and rapid post well analysis and post well mortems with impact to the immediate play segment ramifications and beyond. • Hands-on experience at mentoring and developing G&G staff. Key requirements •Maintain a positive and proactive approach to all HSE issues in keeping with their significance and relevance to the role. •Ensure a strong and consistent Play based Exploration approach underpins all integrated G&G evaluations •Construct various subsurface models and maps at regional and prospect scale using multidisciplinary data and applying high technical standards. Prepare various subsurface maps to support exploration efforts (isochrones, attribute, time structure, and depth structure maps etc.) •Prepare paleogeographic maps describing petroleum systems and maps that represent rock properties (reservoir thickness, facies, porosity, saturation, net pay maps). Incorporate basic geochemical data into interpretations for evaluation of source rocks, burial history and basin analysis. •Have a strong practical working knowledge and basic application of all technical principles, theories and concepts used to evaluate exploration potential and identify prospects and leads. •Have technical skills across key disciplines including geophysics, geology, petrophysics, petroleum engineering, and risk assessment. •Have knowledge of ‘pitfalls’ of seismic interpretation and incorporate into interpretations. Provide/ propose alternative interpretations. •Perform probabilistic volumetric and risk assessments on a lead, prospect, play segment and regional basis, including ranking. •Conduct structural and stratigraphic analysis with geologic and geophysical data, including seismic attributes, to define and constrain the geometry of traps. •Advise and prepare 2D and 3D seismic interpretations using inversion and attribute mapping when / where appropriate. •Incorporate aero gravity or magnetic survey data into exploration when appropriate. •QA/QC of 3D seismic processing by geophysical contractors.
