About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

Design new system solutions set-up, or modify, enhance or adapt existing systems, integrating new features or improvements in order to improve business efficiency and productivity. Candidate shall be able to analyse how well software, hardware and the wider IT system fit the business needs of PDO. Moreover, he/she shall be able to support process automation, build and maintain data systems & construct datasets that are easy to analyze and support company requirements. He/She would drive any Data Integration and Migration, Compliance to Data Governance, Security, and Quality Assurance, Troubleshooting, Collaboration and Training, and Reporting. In this role, you need a high-level technical expertise and clear insights into IM business processes and System Data types lifecycle.

Education & Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in IT disciplines, Computer Engineering, or Information Management System 
Experience: Minimum 4 years experience in E&P, including minimum 3 Years experience in the same role, with strong knowledge of data system implementation in major capital projects,preferred knowledge of system data types and related processes. With Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, written and verbal communication, and Interpersonal skills. 
 

Main Responsibilities

•    Liaise with external or internal stakeholders, analyse existing IT systems or business models
•    Evaluate existing system interfaces, map and document legacy and new systems interfaces
•    Generate or identify options for potential solutions and assess them for both technical and business
suitability
•    Very clear understanding of software development lifecycles, with ability to translate stakeholder
requirements into functional specifications
•    Develop Data Integration and exchange script, manage data integration processes, and ensure seamless data flow between systems.
•    Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups to ensure data integrity and security.
•    Lead data migration projects, ensuring data is accurately and securely transferred between systems.
•    Enforce data governance policies, and Monitor data quality metrics, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
•    Implement data quality control measures, including data validation, cleansing, and de-duplication.
•    Ensure compliance with industry standards, legal requirements, and best practices 
•    Implement and maintain data security protocols to protect sensitive information.
•    Provide technical support for data management systems, addressing user issues and system errors.
•    Collaborate with IT staff, data analysts, and business units to understand data requirements and optimize systems accordingly.
•    Generate regular reports on system performance, data integrity, and other relevant metrics.
•    Conduct requirements analysis and prepare specific proposals for modified or replacement systems
•    Produce project feasibility and costings reports, and present proposals to stakeholders
•    Supervise solutions and related products development, interfacing closely with software vendors and
developers, and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction
•    Manage system development projects, planning and working flexibly to deadlines, and ensuring that
budgets are adhered
•    Develop, supervise and document testing schedules for complete systems, and oversee system
implementation including data migration.
•    Function as change manager, support users on change control and system updates, and provide
training and user manuals to new/updated system users
•    Drive PDO digitalization improvements, and contribute to business excellence; promote IM value to
•    The business; educate and encourage internal and external stakeholders to be collaborative
•    Understand, effectively define and monitor both internal and external organisational interfaces and
•    The roles and responsibilities within the section.
