Purpose of the Job

Technical expert in handling all issues regarding Cement design, its placement and resultant quality to meet required objective for zonal isolation, process safety barrier management and well integrity for the life cycle of the well. De-risk issues at design level to support UIKW team in delivering company annual cementing and zonal isolation targets as well as handle all escalated matters as cementing specialist chemist for root cause analysis and lead new design projects in well cementing. Troubleshoot, optimize cementing operations through chemical formulation to meet require barrier quality, integrity and cement quality for all High Pressure, High Temp, High sour wells. Manage HSE, Process Safety risks through Chemical Management and stewardship.

Education & Experience

- Degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering (or others Petroleum engineering, Geology with chemistry as major) with of a minimum of 7 years’ experience in Oil and Gas Production (Subsurface Production Chemistry) and dealing with Cementing operations.
- Must have working experience in handling High Pressure, High Temperature, High Sour cement jobs, design simulation, execution and troubleshooting experience.
- Must covers full spectrum of E&P Drilling operations (Drilling, Completion, Production, Integrity, Abandonment)
- Skilled in managing Third-party service contracts and HSE issues impacting the business.
 

Main Responsibilities

- Stand in expert in Cementing operation and perform as TA2 in the area of Cement design and formulations to meet target barrier management, zonal isolation and well integrity in compliance with Well control SP1213, CP237.
- Maintain and improve in PDO Cementing Manual SP2315 and ensure stake holders engagement through controlled processes in place. Conduct compliance audits to ensure compliance to PDO cementing manual at all levels.
- Latest with market development and technologies in the subject area. Evaluate, introduce, and drive new technology deployment and associated management of change.
- Ensure chemical risks management in liaise with service companies and drive field trials and Management of Change for new chemicals introductions.
- Provide concept selection advise on Cement design formulation, additives, volume quantification, pumping rates to meet design simulation, to get mud displacement efficiency, control on pore and frac pressure gradient and target cement placement with gas, solids, fluid loss, consistency controls and achieve target top of cement through displacement. Optimization and control of treatment chemicals in both operational and process safety domains.
- Control cement job quality and cost through cement formulation, execution, and optimization of WOC.
- Establish technical specifications, chemical selection guidelines and drive tender evaluations to support Contract Holder in cement chemicals formulations and overall Cementing contracts with service providers. This may involve close monitoring and developing inhouse technical capabilities for QA/QC of cementing chemicals.
- Lead and contribute to all deliverables for field projects, GtoP in Wells Cementing and pull the support from UIKW, WE and Asset teams. Drive and support ongoing and Upcoming projects in Production Chemistry as well as in Well Engineering in the area of Cementing optimization and improvement. Ensure all Process Safety, Operational and Chemical threats are simulated, modeled, and corresponding production chemistry barriers e.g. monitoring, surveillance, KPIs, chemical and operational solutions, compatibility checks, chemical availability are ensured. 
- Track Cement job success rate in PDO tools and Investigate all cement job failures due to design formulations, placement, displacement, compatibility and due to failure in required integrity compliance, report after investigation to be updated in the integrated tool. Ensure learning is documented and cascaded to all UIKW staff as well as to relevant area asset. Identify improvement projects and drive market studies for possible and effective solutions to improve PDO cementing success rate.
- Ensure compliance to AMS and integration of Production Chemistry Cementing services to corporate AMS drive.
- Participate and support in chemicals related audits, reviews and lead health checks, technical reviews, investigations, and peer assists as well as support in L2 audits for production chemistry governance documents.
- Set plans and conduct L3 Audits to ensure governance in place as well as lead and drive gap closures related to Cementing Operations this is inclusive of both onsite job execution as well as Vendor cementing yards/warehouses, laboratories, and technical simulation software.
- Embed and execute GHG strategies in Cementing Operations for low carbon impacts solutions.
