Job purpose

Provides engineering support to the team and coordinates, PdM at Salalah Cluster equipment, working at designated areas as Technical Service provider of maintenance and execution of minor projects, modifications in accordance with the technical standards set by TSD to maintain the assets; by; (1) Developing plan & implementing activities to increase equipment efficiency and reliability to positively impact operational production and to reduce maintenance costs , (2) Improve reliability of the physical assets by eliminating un-anticipated equipment failures through development of a sound proactive maintenance strategy, analysis of failure causes, recommending design enhancements and developing improved method of repair & techniques; in order to ensure plant equipment availability, reliability & optimization and facilitating smooth operations of the plant to meet operational targets

 

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Supporting maintenance in identifying dominant failures and bad actors and ensuring proactive maintenance tasks are in place.
  • Develops, implements and audit equipment inspection in order to:
    • Determine equipment condition.
    • Identify abnormal conditions which could lead to equipment failure wear rate.
    • Identify and stop repetitive equipment failures (Bad Actors List) and
    • Provide input/information for planned maintenance activities.
  • Developing solutions to repetitive equipment failures & operation downtime, implement ways to reduce the need for maintenance and ultimately eliminating the occurrences of failures.
  • Sets threshold limits that indicate area of assets operation (normal, early, warning and alert or danger) as per OEM, relevant standard and maintenance best practice.
  • Perform rotor balancing both on-site using portable analyzer (CSI-2130/2140 & SKF Microlog).
  • Carry out shop balancing for large rotors on balancing machine at workshop.
  • Analyze reliability diagnostic report & recommend changes to site-wide maintenance strategies/programs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Carry out reliability process, such as Bad Actors, Root Cause Failure Analysis, MTBF, etc.
  • Review condition monitoring data or any other related PM/PdM maintenance reports and propose corrective action.
  • Perform on the spot analysis for the collected data to identify the root cause, severity and able to prioritize the level of urgency to conduct maintenance repair/replacement.
  • Monitor and audit the quality and effectiveness of PdM strategies and ensure that the failure patterns and failures modes are incorporated into maintenance strategies.
  • Analyze and identify the root causes of failures for high priority/critical equipment and recommend appropriate actions to improve reliability.
  • Attend and organize maintenance staff for on-call & emergency maintenance works in plant silence hours / off duty.
  • Develop and provide effective Training Program for the development of trainee & young engineers.

Education requirements

Minimum Qualifications for this position is a University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Language requirements 

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) Arabic - Native (desirable)

5-8 years of relevant experience

Both

  • Relevant experience in similar role PDM in refinery & petrochemical plants
  • within the Oil & Gas / Refinery / Petrochemical industry.
  • Knowledge of the refinery process and plant equipment.
  • Knowledge of Steam turbines, Gas turbines, Centrifugal compressors, Reciprocating compressors, Pumps, Fans and Blowers, Dry Gas seals, Mechanical Seals etc.
  • Judgment in technical matters with good skills in Predictive maintenance & international code and standards (ASME, API, ASTM, etc.)
  • Knowledge of:
  • Predictive maintenance technology (vibration, oil, infrared/ thermography analysis)
  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Expertise in SAP- PM
  • Online vibration monitoring system (Bentley Nevada System-1)
  • Off-line vibration monitoring system (SKF @ptitude & Emerson CSI 2140 / 2130)
  • Broad understanding of relevant processes, plant and equipment regarding rotating equipment. 
  • Knowledge of:
  • In operating and maintaining the reliability of all rotating equipment.
  • Experience in condition monitoring systems on rotating equipment.
  • Good knowledge in QA/QC, ISO 9001, ISO 1400 and HSE plans.
  • Familiar with techniques for ensuring data integrity with various integration of information/ reports.
  • Understanding of Process (P&IDs / PFDs) & Engineering drawings and OEM manuals.
  • Certification:
  • Certified Level II in Vibration Analysis
  • Experience in Developing/reviewing maintenance work instruction.
  • Sound judgment in technical matters with good skills in engineering field.
  • Proven experience with Personal Safety Management.
  • Good knowledge in HSE / SCE QA/QC, equipment & plans/ standards
  •  Knowledge of refinery and petrochemical plants operation.
  • Knowledge of DCS, ESD system, PLC, integrated control systems for rotating machinery.
  • Experience in bids evaluation and knowledge of contracts management & spare parts optimization.
