Job Description

The Well Engineering department is accountable for the safe, compliant delivery of development, appraisal and exploration wells and well interventions with all associated activities. The Drilling Engineer will be responsible and accountable for:
Working with the Senior Drilling Engineer, Well Engineers and Rig Engineers in support of the Well Planning, Drilling & Completion, Workover and Abandonment operations.
Delivering safe and secure well drilling program, well designs compliant with QAMP Policy, Standards and Procedures, planning and cost estimating during well construction from site construction until handover to production.

 C. Drilling Engineering support during well operations, both in the office and rig site, including out of hours where required. 

D. Providing design and construction interface with the Engineering Team for well pads and access roads.

E. Supporting the Completions/ Interventions Engineer for planning for Well Interventions, workovers, well servicing and abandonment.

Working with contractors and suppliers including supporting the sourcing, tendering and evaluating of materials and services used in Well Design and execution.

Verification of well construction within design specification and QAMP standards.

Managing the daily operations and reporting of wells activities. End of well reporting. Lessons Learned.

 I. Manage all logistical activities that are associated with the above activities.

 J. Ensure that all activities are within national or local legislation and comply with company policy, guidelines and procedures.

 K. Contributes to the all rig related tendering process and manage the rig & rig operation’s related contracts as needed. 

Candidate will be Office Based in Muscat but will be expected to travel to the field to support the drilling and completions operations, support rollout of well plans and procedures, engaging wells field personnel, provide inspection, verification and audit of well construction activities and contractors.   
Initial responsibilities prior to contract COMMENCEMENT DATE include;   
Developing wells related QAMP Management Systems policy and procedures, including Drilling & Completion, Well Control and Well Interventions procedures, including Control of Work and HSSE procedures.

Skills Required

Candidate has proven track record, preferably with operator, with respect to drilling and completions process, contracts processes, development of well operations procedures, well design, cost estimation, developing drilling & completion programs, and HSE management. Academically candidate will hold a BSc. or equivalent higher degree in the sciences or engineering disciplines. Candidate will have working knowledge of one or more Drilling & Completion engineering software package. Candidate should hold or have recently held valid International Drilling Well Control Certificate at Supervisor Level (i.e. IWCF, WellCap).
