POSITION TITLE Principal, Process Technology
LOCATION Sur
ROLE PURPOSE
Manage and lead all the process technology related activities by developing and implementing highest levels of technical excellence within process technology, across the engineering, production, maintenance, and technology centre as well as provide technical leadership contribution and excellence to ensure safety, integrity reliability, and availability of the OLNG complex.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1)MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Drive seamless communication between senior leadership, team members, and other departments to ensure smooth flow of information and timely decision making
•Build a strong team culture by fostering a positive and productive work environment and ensuring that the staff is motivated and collaborative
•Set clear goals and expectations for team members, regularly assess their performance against the set goals, and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement
•Conduct regular check ins with team members for alignment on expectations and performance
•Lead the process technology team and ensure effective and efficient utilization of resources to achieve departmental objectives
•Guide and support team members on all operational and functional matters and resolve any doubts/concerns/grievances they have
•Devote time to train team members on new ways of working, developing new competencies, and upskilling to drive performance and productivity
2)FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process Technology – Strategic Planning:
•Establish and oversee the implementation of the long-term strategic plan for the process technology activities in the Asset Reference Plan, and ensure alignment with production, maintenance, and projects for delivery
•Develop high-level long-term planning and establish the need and requirement of safety reviews in line with company’s HSE framework, Terms of Reference (ToR), priority setting and resourcing plan, lead the process technological HSE services
Process Technology Operations:
•Develop and manage the delivery of technically excellent process technology
•Lead the workgroup during complex investigations, provide novel and expert guidance on process technology matters to resolve technical challenges with maintenance and projects delivery
•Review and approve the design work for minor and major plant changes/improvement, check if the design satisfies the required technical standards and incorporates best practices from peers and technical advisors and if it meets the optimum cost requirement or not
•Own and ensure logging of Process Safety Assessment (PSA) exercise’s resultant actions, appropriate closure within own-set targets and reporting to complex management
•Own Process Technology as subject matter expert (SME) and act as the definitive source of knowledge, technique, and expertise in process technology to provide professional and technical insight for design, engineering and complex trouble-shooting activities
Advanced Process Control Services:
•Lead advanced process control (APC) and base layer control services for OLNG complex, aiming at optimizing and automating the complex operations
•Ensure timely delivery of process control services for the QLNG complex, including Advanced Process Control (APC) to control and safeguard performance, and monitor, test, and optimize processes
•Guide the team in developing, implementing, and tuning Advanced Process Control applications
•Ensure plant integrity is maintained and design objectives are met through timely review of process control content of plant modifications, instrument trip, and instrument alarm settings
Quality Assurance:
•Develop and maintain discipline engineering assurance functions and provide in-depth specialist technical know-how to support other departments in production, maintenance, projects, and technology to sustain continuous and uninterrupted plant operation, leading to achievement of overall corporate objectives
•Accountable for technical quality of all activities within Process Technology
•Develop, and maintain assurance functions within procedures, organisational structure, other business units, staff, and the corporate functions to ensure risk profile in relevant business scope is identified, monitored, and controlled
•Ensure compliance of the relevant discipline to the HSSE and regulatory framework, and provide leadership support to achieve goal zero for OLNG
•Provide technical know-how in technical studies and failure investigations, process and instrument design reviews, Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and HAZOP’s, etc.
Process Technology – Continuous improvement:
•Develop and implement best practices related to Process Technology
•Foster technical innovation, acquisition of expertise and a continuous improvement culture by constantly seeking new technical developments and actively pursuing deployment opportunities in a manner that positively contributes to the core values and the policies of OLNG
•Facilitate research of new and emerging technologies and drive case for change that will improve train/complex reliability, efficiency, production, and environmental performance
Management of Engineering Contracts:
•Provide support in strategizing major engineering contracts from inception, contract strategy, contractor evaluation to selection
•Ensure delivery of major contracts and contractual compliance with regards to budgets, safety and quality and timelines
Stakeholder Management:
•Develop and maintain cordial relationships with a different stakeholder, including area maintenance managers, turnaround managers, project managers and senior management
•Champion process technological expertise requested by internal and external stakeholders, ensure fulfilment of the specific needs of stakeholders and facilitate risk based decisions if required
•Prioritize the requests and assign appropriate resources, assuring a healthy balance of job exposure and stakeholder satisfaction
•Liaise with the area managers within maintenance and turnarounds to develop and strengthen assurance processes for uninterrupted plant operation
KEY CHALLENGES
•Forecast and plan integrating the future needs in the OLNG facility to ensure the process technology is equipped to cater to evolving product/feed gas quality
•Keep abreast with the fast-paced advancements in process technology, assess and adapt the innovations best suitable for OLNG
•Integrate the new and innovating technology into the business processes with minimum disruptions
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND WORKING CONDITIONS
EDUCATION
•B.Sc. in engineering in relevant streams like Chemical, Process engineering or Physics (REQUIRED)
•TA – 2 for Process Engineering (REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE
•10 years in oil and gas, chemical or related industry (REQUIRED)
•5 years in LNG technical engineering field required (REQUIRED)
