Job purpose

Lead a team and build out Category Management for Upstream under Head of Contract’s scope, acting as single point of accountability and owner of Category Management & Claims, through (1)  Grouping in systematical  segments of procurement spend all related procurement for Upstream, in order to increasing revenue, reducing risks, maintaining partnerships with suppliers, and overall boosting the effectiveness of procurement effort, and (2)  Provides advice and services in respect of claims for contract compensation, reparation, restitution or any other remedy for financial loss or breach of contractual obligation with a focus on improving processes and performance in order to support Procurement to achieve their goals.

 

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

Category Management

 

  • Consolidate current demand and forecast future demands (2-5 years)
  • Identifies opportunities for local manufacturing and ICV.
  • Develop/manage cross functional teams for specific categories.
  • Develop Category Strategy for Wells & E&P.
  • Monitor Category Performance
  • Receive and interpret data and market insights
  • Plan and implement long-term development strategies for product categories
  • Design exit strategies for unsuccessful products
  • Ensure product availability
  • Strategize positioning of a product category in order to maximize its visibility
  • Collaborate with the marketing team
  • Research competitors and suggest appropriate pricing and promotional activities
  • Work with customers and merchandisers and find new ways of expanding product categories 
  • Liaise with Value Partners, Shared Services, and other Centres of Excellence to provide seamless service delivery to customers.
  • Market intelligence and analysis.
  • Supplier relationship management.
  • Cost modelling and estimation.
  • Lead & contribute to the development and implementation of departmental policies, systems, processes, procedures and controls, and continuously identify and recommend improvements while ensuring compliance with the group guidelines, international / local standards and relevant legislation.

 

Claims Management

 

  • Lead the development of Upstream Procurement claim’s philosophy,
  • Lead the implementation of claims systems,
  • Management of claims services
  • Lead and execute the application of claims practices to Upstream business
  • Provide proactive support and advice in relation to contractor claims
  • Advice on vendor selection and approval for pre-award activities.
  • Develop and manage Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program for key vendors.
  • Provide in house training on contracts and claims management.
  • Maintains a list of “good” and “poor” performing contractors based on contract performance reviews.
  • Troubleshoot all vendor problems and present to management as required.

Notable Working Conditions. Office environment, intensive computer screen use, sporadic visits to operation site, traveling, when possible and needed.

Education requirements

Minimum qualification is a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Production Operations Management, or equivalent.

Language

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required), Arabic Native (desirable)

  • 8+ years of relevant experience Oil and Gas / Energy industry experience essential (including upstream and downstream exposure).
  • Procurement, inventory, supply chain qualifications are an added advantage.
