Job purpose                                                               

 

Responsible for Monitoring & Controlling the operations and production indicators through available systems such as DCS, SCADA, PLMS, PI, LDS and AGR within a rolling 12-hour shift window under the supervision of the production supervisor.

 

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • As a console operator, exercise full operational responsibility for Monitoring & Controlling operations and production indicators of the facilities (e.g.  compressor stations, block valve stations, compressor stations, pressure, metering stations and block valve stations) through available systems
  • Responsible for continuous monitoring of the production and operational variables daily.
  • Responsible for implementing the changes instructed by the production supervisor required to restore the operational variables
  • Responsible for implementing the recommendation of the production supervisor in case of deviations.
  • Responsible for undertaking appropriate actions during upsets, changes, alarms, trips/shutdowns, emergency and support normalisation of system/process through appropriate coordination with the production supervisor and local control rooms in accordance with company procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring successful recovery of operational and network facility disturbances across the facilities.  
  • Responsible for identifying/responding to alarms in accordance with company procedures.
  • Participation in value assurance reviews and improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for adhering to the work shift cycle.
  • Responsible for self-development as per company training plans.
  • Responsible for adhering to all company Quality and HSE standard and requirements coming under area of jurisdiction.
  • Effective communication among entire team as well as external parties.
  • Maintaining the safe operating parameters to achieve production quality targets and minimize plant downtime.
  • Guide plant and field operators during start up and shutdown sequences.

Notable Working Conditions. Field Operations and office environment, Moderate to intensive computer screen use. rolling 12-hour shift

Education requirements

  • Engineering Diploma or equivalent higher education.

Language requirements 

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required)

Background and experience

Competencies and skills

 

  • Diploma in Engineering or equivalent
  • Min of 2+ years of relevant experience

Both:

  • Experience in a Control Room Environment as a panel operator of which in DCS, SCADA & other process control /monitoring systems.
  • Skills in Oil & gas plant operations.
  • Skills in operation of Gas Transportation Facilities (gas transmission and distribution including compression, pressure reduction and metering) will be a plus.
  • Skills in Process Control & monitoring systems such as DCS, SCADA, PI, PLMS, LDS and AGR.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Awareness of gas regulation concept will be a plus.
  • Eng. Drawing interpretation.
  • Production report/Report Writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including communication, negotiation, problem solving, decision making with consultation.
  • Effective Planning & Organization Skills.
