POSITION TITLE Engineering & Technology – Electrical Engineering - Senior Manager
LOCATION Sur
ROLE PURPOSE
Strategize and champion all aspect of electrical systems, equipment, and processes in compliance with the design code, HSSE and legal requirements by providing professional expertise and technical excellence, to ensure the safety and integrity of the electrical systems of OLNG.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
•Drive seamless communication between senior leadership, team members, and other departments to ensure smooth flow of information and timely decision making
•Build a strong team culture by fostering a positive and productive work environment and ensuring that the staff is motivated and collaborative
•Set clear goals and expectations for team members, regularly assess their performance against the set goals, and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement
•Lead the Electrical Engineering team and ensure effective and efficient utilization of resources to achieve departmental objectives
•Mentor and guide team members to drive superlative performance and encourage them to make the most of learning and development, career development, secondment, and promotional (step-up) avenues
•Provide thought leadership and final decisions on all matters related to Electrical Engineering
2) FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical Engineering – Strategic Planning and Budgeting:
•Prepare a strategic plan of action for the electrical engineering services department including preventive maintenance schedules, adoption of best practices from the industry and budget allocations to achieve the goal of xero incidents
•Develop departmental strategies in alignment with the corporate strategy and ensure the delivery of business results is aligned to the corporate objectives
•Forecast budget requirements for the electrical systems and equipment and manage major engineering
•Manage the Capex & Opex budget for all electrical activities, approve and track the expenditure to ensure sufficient funds and resources are available
Electrical Engineering Operations:
•Ensure delivery of technical excellence within all the electrical engineering activities
•Recommend best practices related to operation and maintenance of the electrical systems and equipment, oversee the maintenance, and ensure perennial availability of electrical spare parts to ensure availability of required spares to maintain complex electrical equipment
•Ensure all electrical equipment and systems are maintained in non-overdue status through regular and surprise checks
•Recommend appropriate maintenance techniques to establish the required preventive maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting for all electrical equipment
•Facilitate and oversee the electrical equipment long-term review that updates the Asset Reference Plan (ARP), ensure timely implementation of ARP action items including stock proposals, upgrade proposals, etc.
•Guide team members to overcome electrical design issues, electrical modification issues, and approve the modifications
•Guide the team on complex investigations and provide expert guidance to resolve technical challenges with maintenance and projects delivery
•Manage implementation of all single discipline electrical changes in the Qalhat facility
•Own the electrical engineering as the subject matter expert (SME) and act as the definitive source of knowledge, technique, and expertise to provide professional and technical insight for electrical design, engineering, and trouble-shooting activities
Quality and Assurance Management:
•Ensure technical quality of all the electrical activities within the department
•Recommend improvements to assurance functions within procedures to ensure risk profile in relevant business scope is identified, monitored, and controlled
•Ensure compliance of procedures, work instructions and responsibilities matrices with the specified quality assurance certification system
•Oversee departmental activities and ensure HSSE and regulatory compliance
Stakeholder Management:
•Coordinate with management/leadership from other relevant departments to facilitate all electrical process related work
•Facilitate all interfaces between electrical section and other disciplines within OLNG and 3rd party contractors
•Act as OLNG focal point for all matters related to area classifications drawings and consequent appropriate usage of equipment to ensure no explosion takes place in the facility
KEY CHALLENGES
•Collaborate with other department leads to ensure integration of electrical engineering strategies with overall plant objectives
•Strike a balance between implementing energy efficient systems, cost optimization with aging equipment and budget constraints
•Keep updated with evolving technology and compliance requirements for electrical engineering practices
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND WORKING CONDITIONS
EDUCATION
•Degree in Electrical Engineering (REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE
•12 years in oil and gas industry in Electrical discipline (REQUIRED)
•Electrical Engineering Technical Authority level - 2 (REQUIRED)
•Worked as senior electrical engineer in a maintenance, commissioning, or construction work environment. (DESIRED)
•Experienced engineering principal or worked in managerial electrical role. (DESIRED)
•Experience with Reliability Centred Maintenance. (DESIRED)
WORKING CONDITIONS
Office based role with 5 workdays a week (Sunday to Thursday)
Occasional support required beyond office hours and on weekends
